The Snowdon Horseshoe is one of the greatest mountain walking challenges in Great Britain. It takes You into some amazing and exhilarating mountain scenery not least the great ridge of Crib Goch, the summit of Snowdon itself and the majestic pointed peak of Y Lliwedd before returning to the Miners track back to Pen Y pass.

It is not for the faint Hearted as the expedition along Crib Goch is wonderfully exposed with thousand Foot drops on each side. to fully appreciate the mountain landscape participants on this challenge should have a very good level of fitness and a very great head for heights.

10:30 Crib Goch first summit (921m)
11:30 Crib Goch second summit (Garnedd Ugain 1065m)
12:30 Bwlch Glas (Top of the PYG Track 998m)
13:00 Snowdon Summit (1085m)
15:00 Down the Watkin Path to Bwlch Ciliau and then
onto Y Lliwedd (893m)
16:30 Join the miners track
17:00 Finish back at Pen y Pass.

Important things to know...

  • It’s tough
  • It’s long
  • It’s rewarding
  • Make sure your boots fit, are waterproof, comfy.
  • Pack light – don’t bring heavy items you don’t need.
  • Stay over in a quaint B&B is recommended.
  • Walking poles are great – if you have them, use them
  • If it’s sunny, take sunglasses, sun cream and a sun hat.
  • It’s ok to come along on your own as an individual. There are so many likeminded folks, you’ll make friends very quickly!
